Problem :

Man has always relied on technology to resolve his issues. Public transportation is among one of the main issues that affect the society. It is an issue which affects worldwide. Many depend on the public transportation system simply because it’s cheap. But the disadvantage of using public transportation is punctuality.
The current situation in Sri Lanka is such that a person cannot fully depend on the public transportation system for his/her punctuality. If a person is supposed to arrive at a destination 30 minutes away from his house he or she will have to leave at least an hour early minimum. In an urban area there is the problem of traffic. Mainly in Colombo traffic is a big issue for passengers. A person wanting to travel even a very short distance like 5km will at least have to wait in the bus for an hour or so. The problem here is that many people except daily travelers won’t have any idea about when to come to the bus halt or amount of time it will take for him to go to his destination. And the traffic varies with the time of the day. Eg: there is more traffic from 7am – 9am on weekdays.
In the other hand in rural areas of Srilanka where traffic is not at all an issue there is the issue of the reliability of the service. In most of the rural areas in Srilanka only one bus is assigned to many roads that branch off the main road. People in those areas cannot fully trust the service. In most cases if the single bus had a breakdown most probably there won’t be another bus assigned to that road. Thus placing the traveler in midst of a rather uncomfortable situation.
Meanwhile both in rural and urban areas the traveler has no way of knowing for sure if the bus is crowded or not. He may not get on the immediate bus that arrive in the bus halt but rather wait for a less crowded bus, but the next will be more crowded leaving the traveler with no choice but to get on that bus to go to his destination on time.

Solution :

To develop two mobile based applications each for bus and user which provide maximum service to the user. Application should provide transport guidance service to user under every circumstance.
Aim is to carry out a thorough research based on the current problem domain and design and develop a cost efficient and productive application.
                                                                  EzyBuz is an android based application that will make transportation easy to any user. Providing the user in a bus halt the facilities of,

•  searching for a bus route, (Database)
•  viewing available buses,(GPS tracker)
•  viewing an estimated time for the bus to reach the destination, (Database )
•  the geo location of the bus (GPS)
•  The crowd in each bus. (Image)
